Ambassador attends Women’s Summit 2009 in Kuala Lumpur
Ambassador Keith attended the opening of The Women’s Summit on August 18, 2009, at Sime Darby Convention Center. The event was launched by Malaysia’s Minister of Women, Family & Community Development, Dato’ Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, with a Keynote Address delivered by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Reaches Out to NGOs and University Audiences on Climate Change
Alberto Goetzl, a U.S. forestry expert, visited Malaysia in early August to share his expertise about deforestation and climate change with university and NGO audiences across Malaysia. Mr. Goetzl delivered presentations at public universities in five states and engaged academics and students on environmental issues in both the U.S. and Malaysia.

Ambassador Keith spent over an hour with a large number of readers of the New Straits Times Online during a live webchat on NST Live. The Ambassador responded to numerous questions on a broad array of topics ranging from nuclear non-proliferation, to human trafficking to a recent uptick in the numbers of Malaysians requesting U.S. student visas.
