Biographical/Historical Data: David Stanley is professor of English at Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Summary: David Stanley lectures on the history of cowboy poetry in the United States; on the first National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in 1985 in Elko, Nevada; and on the hybrid nature of the genre. The lecture is illustrated with audio examples of cowboy poets performing their poetry.
