WASHINGTON, D.C.—PRESIDENT SIGNS INTERIOR APPROPRIATIONS WITH AMERICAN SAMOA’S FUNDING IN TACT

Congressman Faleomavaega announced today that President Clinton signed the fiscal year 2001 appropriations bill for the Department of the Interior on October 11th.  This bill included $23 million for the operations of the American Samoa Government, $10 million for construction projects, and $1.2 million for the National Park of American Samoa.

“I am pleased that ASG’s funding for the current fiscal year is now enacted into law, including a 24% increase in funding for our National Park,” said Faleomavaega.  “I will be returning to American Samoa very soon, and look forward to a busy few weeks.”

Only three of the 13 appropriations bills have been signed by the President, and Congress is sending the Chief Executive a third bill authorizing the government to continue operating – this time through October 20th.  This bill covers all departments and agencies for which annual appropriations have not been signed into law.
