[United States Congress]

WASHINGTON, D.C.—PRESIDENT AND MRS. BUSH SEND FALEOMAVAEGA THEIR BEST WISHES

Congressman Faleomavaega announced today that President Bush sent him a personal get-well message dated September 7, 2005.  Due to security measures associated with mail screening, the letter was received in the Congressman’s office on October 13, 2005.  The full text of the President’s letter is included below.

Dear Eni:

Laura and I send our best wishes as you recover from your bypass surgery.  We know that this is a difficult time for you, and we pray for your strength and good health.

We hope the love and care of your family and friends bring you comfort in the weeks ahead.  God bless.

Sincerely,

George W. Bush

“I am deeply touched that President Bush would take time out of his busy schedule to send a personal letter wishing me a full recovery.  I am also thankful to the people of American Samoa for their prayers.  As a result of your prayers and the many get-well wishes I received, I was able to return to a full work schedule two weeks after bypass surgery and just this week I returned from visiting some of our Samoan soldiers serving on the ground in Iraq.”

“Again, I thank President and Mrs. Bush for their support and I thank the people of American Samoa as I continue to represent their interests in Washington,” the Congressman concluded.
