WASHINGTON, DC - In reaction to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision this morning overturning the District of Columbia’s hand gun ban, Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D-VA-03), Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security, issued the following statement:
“I am reviewing the decision and consulting with experts regarding its implications. I am pleased that, so far, it appears that while the outright ban by D.C. of handguns in the home for self-protection was overturned, other longstanding, sensible governmental regulation of firearms was upheld.”
