Veterans Benefits Administration

Eligibility for most VA benefits is based on discharge from active military service under other than dishonorable conditions. Please feel free to call my Dallas office if you have not heard in a timely manner the status of your claim, or after you appeal denial of a claim, and you want me to check the status of your case. For further information on Veterans benefits, please go to the following link: http://www.vba.va.gov

Veterans Health Benefits

Eligibility for most veterans’ health care benefits is based solely on active military service in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard (or Merchant Marines during WW II), and discharged under other than dishonorable conditions.

Reservists and National Guard members who were called to active duty by a Federal Executive Order may qualify for VA health care benefits. Returning service members, including Reservists and National Guard members who served on active duty in a theater of combat operations have special eligibility for hospital care, medical services, and nursing home care for two years following discharge from active duty.

Health Care eligibility is not just for those who served in combat.
Other groups may be eligible for some health benefits.
Veteran’s health care is not just for service-connected injuries or medical conditions.
Veteran’s health care facilities are not just for men only. VA offers full-service health care to women veterans.

Who is eligible for a VA Home Loan?

Veterans with active duty service, that was not dishonorable, during World War II and later periods are eligible for VA loan benefits. WWII, Korean conflict, and Vietnam era veterans must have at least 90 days service. Veterans with service only during peacetime periods and active duty military personnel must have had more than 180 days active duty service. Veterans of enlisted service which began after September 7, 1980, or officers with service beginning after October 16, 1981, must in most cases have served at least 2 years. Persian Gulf conflict reservists and National Guard members who were activate on or after August 2, 1990, and served at least 90 days with an honorable discharge are eligible. Members of the Select Reserve, including National Guard, who are not otherwise eligible and who have completed 6 years of service and have been honorably discharged or have completed 6 years of service and are still serving may be eligible. The expanded eligibility for Reserves and National Guard individuals will expire in October, 2003. Call the VA toll free at 1-888-487-1970 for further information on eligibility.

How can I get my VA claim processed faster?

The Department of Veterans Affairs currently has many claims pending for various types of benefits. Because of that, many veterans feel that their case might be taking longer then it should. I am always glad to help in these situations. At my request, the VA review a veteran's case and respond back to me the status a particular case. Anytime a veteran has new information or updated medical reports, they are welcome to send me that information to forward to the VA. If you would like my help with a claim or appeal, please contact my Dallas office in writing.
