WHEN YOU THINK OF TEXAS, what comes to mind? Cattle? Oil wells? Lots of wide open spaces? Friendly people? Well, welcome to the Fourth Congressional District of Texas, represented by Congressman Ralph M. Hall. This is the area of Texas where Audie Murphy was born and raised. Murphy's spirit is still strong in North Texas. The most decorated combat soldier in the history of the United States Military has a monument and street named after him in Farmersville. This area of Texas also sent former Speaker of the House, Sam Rayburn, to Congress in the year 1912. The District still includes Mr. Rayburn's hometown of Bonham in Fannin County.
The people of the Fourth are independent, proud, religious and family oriented. Many of the smaller communities revolve around activities taking place at local schools and churches. The region maintains a strong conservative outlook, and is generally considered one of America's best places to live and work. The Fourth District has a rich diversity--including quality schools, universities, and healthcare facilities, several manufacturing and high-tech industries, and a rich farming and ranching community."
