Published in New York City, this combination poster-map prominently
displays portraits of the major Union officers at the beginning
of the Civil War. It also illustrates various regimental uniforms,
and provides a map of the seat of the war in the western border
states. In a plea to patriotism and the Union cause, the title-block
prominently displays the American flag; employs the colors of red,
white, and blue; and portrays a soldier and a flag subduing a snake
labeled "secession" and "treason."
