About MECAPThe Middle East Cooperative Acquisitions Program (MECAP) is open to any non-profit library or research institution wishing to acquire publications from one or more of the following countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Cyprus (Turkish sector), Egypt, Gaza, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, West Bank, and Yemen. The office offers all commercially available titles to MECAP participants, and include government publications when they are commercially available. There are two methods whereby participants select materials:
Participants are billed annually by the African/Asian Acquisitions and Overseas Operations Division (AfA/OvOp) at the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. U.S. law requires that funds for this activity be collected in advance. The amount is based on the participant's previous year's selection activity. New participants determine their requirements for countries and the levels of selectivity, drawn from the Monographic Collection Profile. Go to:
