DAVIS ENCOURAGES SENIORS TO SIGN-UP FOR MEDICARE PART D BEFORE DEADLINEApril 17, 2006

-- U.S. Rep. Lincoln Davis is reminding seniors to sign-up under the new Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan before the May 15th cutoff.

"I encourage everyone to look at the new Medicare Prescription Drug Plan before the May 15th sign-up deadline, so they don't lose out on an opportunity to access quality and affordable care. Medicare has long provided many elderly with a better quality of life," Davis said.

When calling 1-800-Medicare to sign-up under the plan, you should say "agent" to speak with a "real" person. Those with internet access may visit www.medicare.gov.

According to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, there are 124,761 Medicare beneficiaries in Tennessee's Fourth Congressional District. As of March 18, 2006, 85,385 people, or 68% of beneficiaries, have signed up.
