Actors Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn graced the cover of Look
magazine to promote their romantic thriller Charade,
then recently released for the holiday season. A popular general
interest magazine, Look often featured movie stars
on the cover but regularly covered serious social issues such as
politics and race. The two- to three-month lead needed to compile
and distribute the bi- weekly sometimes put topics on the newsstands
at awkward times. In this instance, the results of an opinion poll
on the 1964 presidential election appeared three weeks after Kennedy's
November 22 assassination. When Look ceased publication,
its owner gave the magazine's archive of negatives to the Library.
