Army reservist Jeff Fitch was called to serve in the Persian Gulf War in December 1990. He was able to use his training from a brief hitch in the regular Army to get assigned to a lab in a military hospital in Kuwait. It was the last stop for injured troops before being sent on for more treatment in Germany or the States, or returned to the front lines. He also worked in a POW camp after the fighting stopped and witnessed the outpouring of refugees created by the war. He was especially gratified by the warm reception he and his unit received when they returned to America.
