Rep. Andrews Named Chair of Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions (H.E.L.P.) Subcommittee

I am honored to have been named Chairman of the Education and Labor Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions (HELP).  The subcommittee has jurisdiction over employer-based healthcare and pension programs, as well as a host of other labor issues.  Our nation faces a number of tough challenges in providing protection for American workers’ rights, healthcare for the 47 million uninsured Americans, and pensions for the 69 million who currently have no retirement savings.  I look forward to working with Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller (D-CA) and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to begin to address these significant national problems.

The HELP Subcommittee has jurisdiction over the National Labor Relations Act, Labor Management Relations Act, Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), including employer-based healthcare and pension programs.  As Chairman, I intend to work diligently to address the major challenges facing New Jersey and our nation.
