Martin Luther King Day Message

Every day we hear and see stories of violence and hatred based on religious, cultural, or racial differences in Iraq, Darfur, and elsewhere.  These stories remind me of the fact that all of the diverse religions, races, and ethnicities in our nation are able to live together in peace.  The United States embraces diversity as a strength.  No one understood this ideal better than Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. King achieved much during his lifetime.  One of his greatest lessons was to remind us that although we may look, speak, think, and pray differently, we are all one nation, and that which makes us different makes us stronger.  On this Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, let us recall the legacy of Dr. King, and embrace the diversity that makes our nation the greatest on earth.
