Rutgers Breaks Ground for Law School Addition

On September 25, I joined with Rutgers University and other community leaders in breaking ground for a new facility at Rutgers-Camden Law School.  The new 50,000-square foot building will be located adjacent to the current campus, and will be linked by a third floor skywalk.  This building is another key investment in the revitalization of Camden, and I applaud Rutgers University, and all those involved in making this project a reality.

Throughout my career, I have worked to address the difficult problems that Camden faces.  Crime, poverty, and lack of investment have plagued Camden for many years.  It is my hope that this $37 million project right in the heart of the city will benefit city residents as much as the students who launch their careers there.

Camden presents a myriad of challenges, but also has great potential.  With strong leadership and sustained investment, the city and community continue to move out of the cycle of poverty, and can once again become one of New Jersey’s great cities.  This new project at the Rutgers Law School is one more step forward for the city of Camden.
