(Washington, D.C) U.S. Congressman Sam Graves announced today that the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program has approved a grant of $9,000 to the City of Kingston. The funding will be used to purchase an emergency response vehicle, allowing emergency personnel to arrive quickly at any emergency situation. Other sources of funding will contribute $8,260 to the project.
“Responding quickly to an emergency is critical,” said Graves, a former volunteer firefighter. “This funding will make it easier for emergency personnel to do the dangerous work of saving lives and protecting property.”
Last Month, the City of Kingston received a $500,000 USDA Rural Development Grant to help upgrade their water supply. The USDA Rural Development program has invested over $72 billion since January 2001 to provide equity and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure. As a result, over 1.5 million jobs have been created or saved through these investments.
