World renowned facility will create thousands of jobs and generate hundreds of millions of dollars
WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Fred Upton (R-St. Joseph) applauded today’s announcement by the U.S. Department of Energy that Michigan State University has been selected to design and establish the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB), a cutting-edge research facility to advance understanding of rare nuclear isotopes and the evolution of the cosmos. Upton and the entire Michigan congressional delegation strongly supported Michigan State’s bid for the state-of-the-art facility.
Upton made the following statement upon learning of the news.
“In a season of uncertainty and scarce positive news for Michigan, the selection of Michigan State University to construct the Rare Isotope Facility will provide a tremendous boost to our state’s economy and create much needed jobs. This announcement only reaffirms what we already know, that Michigan is a global leader of breakthrough scientific research. Michigan State’s world renowned facility will create thousands of jobs, generate hundreds of millions of dollars for our state, and attract the globe’s best and brightest minds.”
