Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne (left) answers questions from Senator Murray (right) about the future of the 36th Rescue Flight at Fairchild Air Force Base. The 4 helicopters and crew support the Air Force's Survival School and perform hundreds of civilian search and rescue operations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. President Bush's budget proposed eliminating the unit, but Senator Murray has been advocating for its future. At this hearing, Secretary Wynne told Murray that the Air Force is reconsidering its decision and is looking for funding to keep the unit at Fairchild.
