BUSH ADMINISTRATION CONTINUES TO IGNORE MANUFACTURING JOBS CRISIS
Despite Evidence of Manufacturing Jobs Crisis, Bush Comments that
"Manufacturing activity is growing . . ."

(Washington D.C.)- In response to President Bush's comment that "manufacturing activity is growing" during his remarks on the economy this morning, U.S. Rep. Sander Levin (D-Royal Oak), a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee, made the following statement:

"The President continues to ignore the manufacturing jobs crisis in this country," said Rep. Levin. "The rosy scenario painted by the President today flies in the face of his own Bureau of Labor Statistics announcement that 5,000 manufacturing jobs were lost during March. The real problem with the Bush Administration is that it emphasizes pure rhetoric over reality and real action."

"Manufacturing activity is growing . . ."  President Bush, April 7, 2006
