Civic Engagement

Civic Engagement

Civic engagement, which includes involving students in service learning, internships, and community-focused undergraduate research with faculty, is one of three primary elements of IUPUI's mission.

In 2006, IUPUI received a United States Presidential Award for exceptional accomplishments in community service. This is not the first, but the fifth time in the past two years that IUPUI has received national recognition for the service to community and collaborative community partnerships that distinguish this urban campus.

IUPUI has been designated as 1 of 25 urban institutions called "Saviors of our Cities." The Princeton Review, Campus Compact, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, and U.S. News and World Report also have honored IUPUI for collaboration with its communities of stakeholders.
