Baltimore, Md.— Today, Congressman Elijah E. Cummings (Md.-07) released the statement below following the arrest of a suspect in the murder of Carlos Adolfo Santay-Carillo:
“The circumstances surrounding Mr. Santay’s death are heart-wrenchingly tragic, and my thoughts and prayers continue to go out to his widow and their baby boy. However, I am offered hope by the ability of our community to rise together in the midst of such sorrow.
“Through the tireless efforts of the Baltimore County Police Department, the Metro Crime Stoppers, and the men and women who had the courage to stand up and report the information that led to this morning’s arrest, we now have the opportunity to see that justice is served. While nothing will ever bring Mr. Santay back to share with his wife the joys of watching their new son grow into a man, it is my hope that some comfort can be found in the spirit of compassion and shared humanity that has been demonstrated over the past week.”
