Recovery School District (RSD) and Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB)

FEMA Public Assistance grant funding is making it possible for the RSD and OPSB to repair and rebuild schools in New Orleans. This website and the maps below provide detailed information about the funding that FEMA has provided to the State of Louisiana for schools within the RSD and OPSB. The future of closed schools will be guided by the Schools Facilities Master Plan for Orleans Parish currently under development. Public Safety and Justice Map Marker

Public Safety and Criminal Justice rebuilding...

Public Safety and criminal justice facilities and services were severely impaired by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Police, fire, and EMS stations as well as many jails and prisons were destroyed or damaged. Scores of equipment and vehicles were lost.
Public safety services must be restored to ensure not only the safety of hurricane survivors and returning residents but also the general welfare of Gulf Coast communities.
FEMA is committed to ensuring community safety and welfare of citizens. As the recovery effort proceeds, FEMA continues to enable mutual aid agreements in areas lacking capabilities and facilitate cooperation among all levels of government to make certain that vital public safety services are available through the Gulf Coast region.
