House Committee on Foreign Affairs

The Committee on Foreign Affairs has jurisdiction on the relations of the United States with foreign nations generally. The committee deals with e xport controls, including nonproliferation of nuclear technology and nuclear hardware, international conferences and congresses, international education, intervention abroad, and declarations of war. The committee also handles measures to foster commercial intercourse with foreign nations and to safeguard American business abroad.

House Committee on Veterans' Affairs

The House Committee on Veterans' Affairs reviews veterans' programs, examines current laws, and reports bills and amendments to strengthen existing laws concerning veterans and the Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA). These include issues such as health care, disability compensation, GI bill education and job training, home loan guarantees, life insurance policies, and a nationwide system of veterans' cemeteries.
