According to 2002 statistics from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), 1 in 8 Americans has been a victim of identity theft. In 2006, the FTC ranked identity theft victims by state: Indiana was 24th with 3,928 Hoosiers falling victim to Identity Theft.
Congressman Dan Burton recognizes the alarming statistics affecting his district concerning identity theft. That’s why he hosted a free community forum to help you learn how to protect yourself. The event was held on Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Conseco Conference Center.
