Constituent Corner

· New Shimkus Website

I'm very pleased to announce that today we are launching our new website! We're very proud of the new site and all of the improvements. Our address will remain the same at www.house.gov/shimkus.

Visit the new site today and take advantage of these new benefits:

Easier to read and navigate

The modernized site has been organized in such a way as to provide easy access to any of the information that you might be looking for. In addition, a new site map has been added for easy searches of the site organization.

Specialized for the 19th district

With pictures ranging from Collinsville to DuQuoin, Springfield to Olney and everywhere between, this new site definitively claims the 19th district as our own. Additionally, it showcases the wonders of our area.

Send me an email from any page

In an effort to allow easier access to my email, a large red button near the top right-hand corner of every page, will allow you to access my email form in just one easy click. Just below that red button, on every page, you will also find easy-to-locate contact information for myself and all 6 of my offices.

Monthly theme

Every month, the website will have a theme, emphasizing a particular issue and providing in depth coverage of it. This theme is signified by a photo just below the red “email me” button and can be accessed from any page. For our first theme, we’re showcasing our State and County Fairs!

Find the latest information faster

With the changes, we have a new system for updating the website. This will allow for news, press releases and announcements to be updated faster, providing you with up-to-date information.

As we fine tune the changes to the new website, please feel free to email our webmaster at Shimkus.webmaster@mail.house.gov. We welcome any comments. Enjoy!

Anticipated Action on the House Floor Next Week

· Congress will be in recess for the month of August. For more info on the House legislative schedule as we get closer to September keep an eye on the Office of the Clerk’s web site: http://clerk.house.gov/legisAct/index.html.

Did You Know?

· Send an Email to Our Troops Overseas

Dear Abby has set up a website that allows people to send emails of support to our troops serving overseas. Just a few words of encouragement is a great reminder of how much we are thinking about all of our soldiers who are fighting for the greater good abroad right now. Please visit http://anyservicemember.navy.mil to send a message today!

Thank you for the interest in my newsletter! Remember to tell your friends about it as well--they can sign up on my web page at http://www.house.gov/shimkus.

Sincerely,

Congressman John Shimkus
