Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Timothy V. Johnson today announced that two Iroquois County fire departments have been awarded grants through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters grant program.
The Chebanse Fire Protection District, based in Clifton, received $79,144, and the Thawville Fire Protection District received $60,145. In both cases, the grants will be used operations and safety equipment.
I'm happy we were able to help support these firefighting efforts," Rep. Johnson said.
"These grants have been extremely helpful in getting our first-responders the tools they need to do their very difficult jobs."
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program is part of the Administration's larger, coordinated effort to strengthen the nation’s overall preparedness for fire and emergency-related disasters.
