Internship Information
The office of Congressman Timothy V. Johnson offers an internship program giving students an opportunity to observe and participate in the workings of the United States House of Representatives. Interns are an essential part of the office and the positions offer opportunities to assist staff in the areas of legislative research, administrative support, and general constituent service activities.
For those students who are at least sophomores in college, an internship can be extended to the right candidate. The position will allow the intern to learn the inner workings of the legislative process firsthand by assisting the staff with constituent service activities, administrative support, and special projects. The individual may be responsible for researching legislative issues and aiding in responses to constituents. Interested candidates for this position should be dedicated, hard working, and above all, possess superior language and writing skills. In addition, we look for students who have excellent interpersonal skills, and will be able to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
There are three sessions to fill for internships:
- January - May
- May - August
- August - December
Please also note that though we will be happy to assist you, our office is not responsible for providing housing or meals for interns. Interested applicants should fill out and follow all instructions on the Internship Application and call the internship coordinator at (202) 225-2371 with any questions.
