Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. released the following statement today after the Will County Board rejected Jackson's overtures to meet with Will officials to discuss Jackson's plan for building the South Suburban Airport.

"IDOT had asked us to work with Will County. We have tried for two years. Will Co. doesn't want to work with us," Jackson said.

"Will County officials have complained that they lacked details about the Jackson plan, but clearly they don't want to learn about it.

"The Jackson/South Suburban Airport Commission recently submitted to the state a thoughtful master plan and financial plan for building the airport without risk or cost to taxpayers. Let Will County put forward a plan if they have one. And let the best plan win.

"Time is up for this shenanigans. It's time for the State to pick a co-sponsor and move the process forward. Everyday of delay will cost the State millions of dollars in lost business," Jackson said.
