Jackson Statement On Bolton Appointment

Congressman Jesse L. Jackson, Jr. released the following statement today regarding President Bush's recess appointment of John Bolton to the position of United States Ambassador to the United Nations:

"John Bolton presented his credentials to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan today, but too many members of the American public are still questioning his credentials. Instead of holding Bolton's complete record to the light of public scrutiny, President Bush appointed him to the ambassador's post just hours after the Senate began the August recess. No, recess appointments are not new. But using it to name a political operative with questionable tactics who has spewed criticism at the U.N. as our representative to the world body is unconscionable."
