VA Nurse Researcher Receives Award

Taken from the Veterans Health Administration Highlights dated May 31, 2002

Janice M. Roper RN, PhD, will receive the 2002 Research Dissemination – Nursing Award from Sigma Theta Tau International, the Honor Society of Nursing on June 14th, at its Chapter Leader Academy in Indianapolis. The prestigious Honor Society of Nursing will recognize the accomplishments of Dr. Roper and the Nursing Research Council at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System for four programs dedicated to enriching the knowledge of nursing staff and ultimately improving the care of veterans. These accomplishments epitomize the goals of Sigma Theta Tau’s Chapter Leader Academy.

While this Sigma Theta Tau award is a much deserved acknowledgement of the significance of these research dissemination efforts, a further substantiation of the success of these activities is that Dr. Roper and the Council members have published more than 30 peer-reviewed journal articles and made more than 20 presentations at local, regional, national and international conferences.
