Bean Statement On Gaza Resolution Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Melissa Bean (IL-08) released the following statement today after cosponsoring H.Res. 34, which recognizes Israel’s right to defend itself against attacks from Gaza, reaffirms the United States  strong support for Israel, and supports the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. Bean Appointed to NATO Parliamentary Assembly January 25, 2007 Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Melissa Bean (IL-08) has been appointed by the Speaker of the House to serve as a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA), an inter-parliamentary organization of legislators representing NATO member and associate countries. Bean is one of only twelve members from Congress selected to represent our country on this committee.

Bean Commends Work of Armed Forces Medical Personnel on House Floor March 15, 2006 Washington, D.C. — As part of her ongoing efforts to support and champion the efforts of American Servicemen serving abroad and at home, Congresswoman Melissa Bean (IL-08) urged fellow members of Congress from the floor of the House of Representatives to co-sponsor a resolution she has introduced recognizing the extraordinary efforts of Armed Forces medical personnel to care for wounded service members.

Bean Secures Federal Funding to Enhance Naval Aviation Safety March 15, 2006 SCHAUMBURG, IL – Congresswoman Melissa Bean (IL-08) announced that she helped secure $2.8 million in federal funding for a flight data recorder system that will improve the safety of naval aviators. Local defense firm L-3 Electrodynamics’ T-45 CSMU (Crash Survival Memory Unit) will be used to analyze the performance of the Navy’s aircraft.  The funding, secured through the FY 06 Defense Appropriations bill, will be utilized to research and further develop the T-45 CSMU as well as ready the apparatus for comprehensive use by the U.S. Navy’s T-45 fleet. 

Bean Urges Stronger Commitment to Protecting Airlines from Anti-aircraft Missile Attacks March 10, 2006 Washington, D.C. - In her latest effort to combat the threat posed by shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles known as MANPADS (Man Portable Air Defense Systems), Congresswoman Melissa L. Bean today urged Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to maintain the Administration’s commitment to protecting the American flying public from the threat posed by these weapons. 

Bean Highlights Emergency Preparedness with Homeland Security Committee Members and Leading First Responders February 14, 2006 Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Melissa Bean (IL-08), together with Reps. Bennie G. Bean Travels to Iraq on Congressional Fact-finding Trip September 30, 2005 Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Melissa Bean (IL-8) departed for Iraq today as part of a bipartisan Congressional delegation trip to the region.  Bean, who will be in Iraq for several days, will meet with high-ranking Iraqi and American government officials, U.S. military officers overseeing reconstruction and security operations, and men and women in uniform stationed in Iraq—including personnel from Illinois.
