BEAN PRAISES OBAMA PICK FOR CPO

New Performance Officer will increase accountability

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Melissa Bean (IL-08) released the following statement today in response to President-elect Barack Obama’s creation of a Chief Performance Officer.

“I want to congratulate the President-elect on this long-overdue move to bring a results-oriented approach and increased accountability to government.  This new senior position represents a refreshing commitment to efficiency and a better return on investment of tax dollars that has been sadly lacking and is especially needed in this troubled economy.

“I’m also looking forward to working with Nancy Killefer. Her experience in the government and private sectors will bring vital best-practices and greater efficiency to federal agencies.”

Bean is co-chair of the New Democrat Coalition and a member of the House Financial Services Committee. A former small-business owner, she has been the sponsor of numerous government accountability initiatives.
