They're going out like a lamb...for the Lamb Day celebration!

Because sheep herding has historically been a popular way to earn a living in Fountain Green, the townspeople celebrate the local sheep-herding community every year with a Lamb Day festival, which first started in 1932. "Buckaroos in Paradise: Ranching Culture in Northern Nevada, 1945-1982" is another presentation about another type of rancher, who herds cattle.

This celebration is just one of hundreds of "Local Legacies" you can find on the America's Library Web site for kids and families. "Local Legacies" was a project held during the 200th birthday of the Library in 2000.
