Date Change for Library of Congress Press Conference Introducing the New Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry Rita Dove

The Library of Congress will hold a press conference to introduce the new Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry, Rita Dove, to the media on Wednesday, October 6. The date was originally scheduled for October 5.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning poet (Thomas and Beulah, 1986) plans to participate actively in Library programs and introduce original programming, (including music with poetry), as well as poets and other writers to the Library's public series of free readings and lectures. Ms. Dove's first public reading as Laureate for Washington audiences will be Thursday, October 7, at 6:00 p.m. in the Great Hall, first floor, Jefferson Building.

DATE: Wednesday, October 6, 1993

TIME: 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

LOCATION: Poetry and Literature Center, Library's Jefferson Building, Second Street Entrance, between East Capitol Street and Independence Avenue, S.E., third floor, Room 320. Take center elevators, located in the Jefferson Building cellar, to the third floor stop, marked "Attic," and the location of the Page School.
