Image rights are handled by Digital Image Resources (DIR). Our goal is to convey the MFA collections to the public through visual documentation, and the authorized use of text and images for the purposes of reproduction and distribution, while protecting the integrity of all MFA property.

Please click on the appropriate link above for more information about obtaining photographic materials, reproducing images of art objects from the MFA collections, or conducting filming or photography activities in the MFA building or on MFA property.

Important Information:
  • Processing time for orders (with the exception of new photography) is approximately 2-3 weeks.
  • Photography does not exist for all objects in the MFA collection or may not be available in the format you request. In this event, a DIR staff member will contact you to discuss options for new photography and review alternative formats.
  • Pre-payment: Once you receive the fee quote for your order, pre-payment may be made by US check (made payable to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston), or credit card (American Express, MasterCard, or Visa). All payments must be made in US dollars; checks issued from non-US banks will not be accepted.
