Public Transportation
Subway
Because our limited parking fills up quickly—especially during popular exhibitions—we encourage you to take advantage of the MBTA, Boston's public transportation system (known by natives as the "T").

Take the Green Line "E" train to the "Museum of Fine Arts" stop, or the Orange Line train to the "Ruggles" stop.

Fare for the T begins at $1.70 for adults. Pricing information and passes are available at subway stations.

Bus
Take the 39 bus to the "Museum of Fine Arts" stop, or the 8, 47, or CT2 buses to the "Ruggles" stop.

Learn more about Boston's "T" system.
Parking
Parking is available in the garage on Museum Road. Because parking at and near the MFA is limited and fills up fast—especially during popular exhibitions and school vacation weeks—the MFA encourages visitors to carpool or use public transportation.

Driving Directions
From the North:
Take Interstate 93 South or Route 1 South to Storrow Drive. Take the exit off Storrow Drive marked "Kenmore Square/Fenway Route 1S." Stay in the left lane and take the "Fenway" exit. Turn left at the first traffic light (at the sign marked "Boylston St. Inbound/Fenway") and immediately bear right onto Fenway Drive. Proceed through another set of traffic lights, and as you approach the next intersection (flanked by a pair of stone pillars), turn right onto Hemenway Street. At the end of Hemenway, turn left onto Forsythe Way and then immediately right onto Huntington Avenue. The Museum will be on your right. Continue past the Museum and turn right onto Museum Road to reach our parking areas.

From the South:
Take Interstate 93 North to exit #18, marked “Mass. Avenue/Roxbury.” Follow the signs along the exit ramp for Mass. Avenue, but continue straight on Melnea Cass Boulevard for 1.3 miles. Turn left onto Tremont Street, and at the second traffic light (0.1 miles) turn right onto Ruggles Street. Continue on Ruggles Street for 0.4 miles, crossing Huntington Avenue. At the next traffic light, turn right onto The Fenway (marked Evans Way to the left) and proceed 0.2 miles along the backside of the Museum. Turn right onto Forsyth Way and then right again onto Huntington Avenue. Continue past the Museum and turn right onto Museum Road to reach our parking areas.

From the West:
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90 East) to exit #22, marked "Prudential Center/Copley Square." Stay to the left side of the exit ramp, following the signs marked "Prudential (West 9)." This exit ramp connects to Huntington Avenue. Continue on Huntington Avenue for .8 miles, moving to the left or center lane after the first traffic light to use the underpass below Massachusetts Avenue. The Museum will be on your right. Continue past the Museum and turn right onto Museum Road to reach our parking areas.

To further assist you in planning your trip to the MFA by car, we refer you to the below online map and directions services:

Please note: Although though these are two of the most established sites for online maps and directions, you may encounter an occasional inaccuracy. As when using any driving directions or map, it's a good idea to make confirm road names and locations, watch out for construction, and follow all traffic safety precautions.
