Pre-WWII Daytona Public Housing is a Goner

U.S. Rep. John L. Mica (FL-07), Daytona Beach Housing Authority Executive Director Pete Gamble and other local leaders dedicated 136 new housing units at Pine Haven Apartments on August 28th. Rep. Mica said, “This event marked the replacement of over 300 Pre-World War II substandard public housing units in Volusia County.”

“Making certain that our citizens in need of affordable housing have modern safe, and respectable housing has been our goal in replacing outdated public housing,” Mica further commented. “This is a milestone in now replacing 310 units in one of the largest replacement programs of low cost housing in the history of Volusia County. Not only will people have a better place to live, retire, raise their families, they will also reside in safer surroundings.”

Congressman Mica has targeted the replacement of inadequate and outdated public housing and has worked with HUD officials, Daytona Beach leaders and residents to improve local communities.
