Inauguration Day - January 20, 2009
On January 20, 2009 the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, will be sworn-in to office in Washington, DC. Due to the unprecedented amount of public interest in this historic event, the extremely limited number of tickets granted to each Congressional office, and the large number of requests we have already received, we are no longer able to accept further requests for tickets.
While Congressional tickets will be necessary to enter the reserved section of the National Mall, the remainder of the National Mall will be open to the public and equipped with speakers and large-screen televisions with open captioning. Further information about inaugural events is available at the websites of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (http://inaugural.senate.gov/index.cfm), the Presidential Inaugural Committee (http://www.pic2009.org/content/home/), the District of Columbia (http://inauguration.dc.gov/index.asp), and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (http://www.wmata.com/getting_around/metro_events/inauguration.cfm).
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PLACED A REQUEST:
To ensure fairness, a lottery system will be used to determine ticket recipients. If you have already placed a request for Inaugural tickets through our office, our office will contact you by December 19, 2008. Thank you for your interest in this historic occasion.
