Privacy and Security Policy

Thank you for visiting the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) website and for reviewing our privacy policy. Ex-Im Bank will not collect any personal information (i.e., information that could be used to identify you personally, such as your name or date of birth) from you during your visit unless you choose to provide such information.

NON-PERSONAL INFORMATION GATHERING: For the purpose of analyzing user behavior and measuring customer interest, Ex-Im Bank will collect the Internet domain name (for example, "xcompany.com" if you use a private Internet access account, or "yourschool.edu" if you connect from a university's domain) and IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web) from which you access our website. Ex-Im Bank also will track the type of browser and operating system used to access our site, the date and time you access our site, the pages you visit, and, if applicable, the Internet address of the website from which you link directly to Ex-Im Bank's site.

Ex-Im Bank does not enable "cookies," which are files placed on your hard drive that monitor use of a website without your knowledge.

E-MAIL AND WEB FORMS: If you choose to provide Ex-Im Bank with personal information through either e-mail or a web form, Ex-Im Bank will use that information to respond to your request. Ex-Im Bank will only collect personal information from an email or web form if you knowingly provide such information. To adequately address your questions and concerns, Ex-Im Bank may forward your submission to other Government agencies or employees. Ex-Im Bank does not create individual profiles using such information. In limited circumstances, including requests from Congress or private individuals, Ex-Im Bank may be required by law to disclose information you submit.

PRIVACY ACT NOTICE: You will receive clear notice when Ex-Im Bank requests information that is within the scope of the Privacy Act of 1974, as amended.

WEBSITE SECURITY: For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, Ex-Im Bank webservers employ industry-standard methods to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on Ex-Im Bank servers are strictly prohibited and may be punishable by law, including the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.

In the specific context of this security monitoring, there is no expectation of privacy. However, only in the case of actual law enforcement investigations, will we attempt to identify individual users or their usage habits.
