EX-IM BANK DIRECTOR DAN RENBERG TO DISCUSS WAYS TO HELP PITTSBURGH FIRMS EXPORT AT OCT. 10 BUSINESS BREAKFAST

Dan Renberg, member of the Board of Directors of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) will discuss ways that Pittsburgh area companies can expand their businesses by tapping into the global marketplace at a breakfast Wednesday, October 10, 2001 sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania District Export Council. The event is open to the press.

"Companies large and small in the Pittsburgh area can learn how to access Ex-Im Bank financing that could help them begin or expand export sales to foreign markets," Renberg said.

In Pennsylvania over the past five years, Ex-Im Bank has helped 242 companies, including Pittsburgh businesses such as Fisher Scientific Co. and International Steel Services, Inc., to export $2.3 billion of goods and services to emerging markets around the world.

Ex-Im Bank is an independent federal agency that assists in financing the export of U.S. goods and services to developing markets around the world, through export credit insurance, loan guarantees, and direct loans. In fiscal year 2001, Ex-Im Bank helped to finance approximately $12.4 billion of U.S. exports worldwide.
