Savannah Fugitive Caught 
 
A fugitive wanted by the Savannah Chatham Metro Police Department (SCMPD) on outstanding warrants was arrested by the Savannah U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, and SCMPD K-9 and Detectives on September 19, 2008.

Dquan Ferguson was being sought on a warrant issued in Savannah, Georgia charging him with Aggravated Assault. The incident occurred September 9, 2008 in the 2800 Block of Capitol Street in which a man was assaulted with a firearm.

The case was turned over to the Savannah Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force to locate and arrest him. The investigation revealed leads that Ferguson was still in the Savannah area, but he was able to elude police on at least two prior occasions having fled in a vehicle. The task force, along with SCMPD K-9 and Detectives worked extensively on September 19, 2008 following numerous leads which led to a short vehicle chase. Officers lost him in the Hodgson Drive and Mall Boulevard area. A concerned citizen told investigators that a black male parked his car by the citizen’s office and left. Ferguson was found hiding in a dumpster. He was arrested without further incident and taken to Police Headquarters. He will be taken to the Chatham County Jail to await his court proceedings.

The Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force has three offices: Atlanta, Macon, and Savannah and cover the whole state of Georgia. The Savannah Office of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Chatham County Sheriff=s Department, the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service. The task force objective is to seek out and arrest fugitives charged with violent crimes, drug crimes, sex offenders, and other felonies. The Brunswick Task Force is made up of U.S. Marshals, Glynn County Police, Brunswick Police, Camden County Sheriff’s Department, Glynn County Sheriff’s Department, Kingsland Police, McIntosh County Sheriff’s Department, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. Last year, U.S. Marshals task forces arrested more than 58,600 state and local fugitives on felony charges.
