A
fugitive wanted by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on outstanding warrants
was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force,
the Jenkins County Sheriff’s Department and the Millen Police Department in
Millen, Georgia on September 17, 2008.
Cedric Cutter, 27, was being sought on a warrant issued in Jacksonville,
Florida charging him with Two Counts of Murder. The incident occurred in
March of 2007, where two victims were both shot to death. Warrants were
issued on September 3, 2008 to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The case was referred to the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Task Force, who
then sent the case to the Marshals Savannah Office of the Southeast Regional
Fugitive Task Force to help locate and arrest this subject. Through a joint
investigation by the two fugitive task forces, it was determined that the
fugitive was possibly at his father’s house in Millen, Georgia. The
Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force went to Millen and teamed up with the
Jenkins’ County Sheriff’s Department and the Millen Police. The Task Force
and the local officers went to the residence on Lincoln Street in Millen,
Georgia. Upon knocking on the front door, it was answered by the fugitive
who was immediately taken into custody without incident. Cutter was taken to
the Bulloch County Jail to await extradition back to Florida.
Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the
apprehension of approximately 36,000 federal fugitives. More federal
fugitives are arrested by the Marshals Service than all other federal
agencies combined.The Marshals
Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force has three offices: Atlanta, Macon,
and Savannah and cover the whole state of Georgia. The Savannah Office of
the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of law
enforcement officers from the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Chatham
County Sheriff=s Department, the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police
Department, and the United States Marshals Service. The task force objective
is to seek out and arrest fugitives charged with violent crimes, drug
crimes, sex offenders, and other felonies. Last year, U.S. Marshals task
