Missing Denham Springs Girl Recovered by U.S. Marshals Service

Tulsa, OK – A missing girl from Denham Springs was recovered by the U.S. Marshals Service this afternoon at a Tulsa, Oklahoma apartment complex. Jennifer O. Winter, 39, of Denham Springs was arrested by U.S. Marshals at the Windsail Apartments on a warrant issued by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office for non-custodial kidnapping.

The U.S. Marshals led- Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force began searching for Winter and her 8 year old daughter last month on behalf of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Winter fled the Baton Rouge area in November of 2007 with her daughter after a custody dispute and had not been seen since. Task Force Investigators worked with other U.S. Marshals Service Investigators from Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Oklahoma to locate Winter and return the girl to her custodial father.

“We are happy to assist the NCMEC in the recovery of this child. Our children are our most precious resource and we are committed to keeping them safe.” said U.S. Marshal Carey Jenkins.

The Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force, coordinated by the U.S. Marshals Service, is a multi-agency task force that targets persons wanted for violent crimes, narcotic offenses, and sex offenders in the Capitol area and surrounding Parishes. Participating agencies are the Baton Rouge Police Department, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, the Louisiana State Police, the Louisiana State Probation and Parole, and the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.
