The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force Arrests Dangerous and Elusive Man Facing Multiple Charges

San Antonio – 03/10/2008 – The United States Marshals Service sponsored Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) along with the New Braunfels Police Department (NBPD) SWAT team arrested 34 year old Adam Torres in New Braunfels Monday afternoon after finding him hiding at the Budget Inn Motel on IH-35.

Adam Torres came to the attention of the LSFTF at the request of the Seguin Police Department. Torres had recently gone AWOL from the military and had accumulated criminal charges in connection with domestic violence. Torres even broke into his estranged wife’s home in violation of a protective court order in Seguin. Until today, Torres had successfully evaded authorities both in vehicles and on foot. At one point last week Torres abandoned his 8 year old daughter while running from police. The ex-wife of Torres was so frightened of him she went into temporary hiding while he was on the loose. Torres was an elusive target but his flight ended today when members of the LSFTF and the NBPD SWAT team made entry into his room.

The United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette Collins said “The state of mind that this fugitive was in created a heightened sense of awareness for our team. Make no mistake; this was a very desperate and dangerous individual. Anyone who would abandon their young child to run from police deserves anything the courts throw at them.”
