Suspected California Murderer Arrested in Litchfield, Minnesota

Suspected by San Diego Police Department in a 2003 brutal murder and on the run for almost 5 years, Enrique Arujo Aguirre could hide no longer. Early this morning members of the U.S. Marshals, Litchfield Police Department, and Meeker County Sheriff’s Department arrested Aguirre outside his trailer.

Aguirre is suspected of killing his roommate with a hammer, then setting the body on fire. Aguirre then fled to his home country of Mexico. Detectives with the San Diego Police Department developed information that Aguirre had returned to the United States and was possibly living in Minnesota. San Diego Police Department Detectives forwarded this information yesterday morning to the U.S. Marshals in San Diego.

Deputy U.S. Marshals from the Southern District of California contacted Deputies in the District of Minnesota yesterday afternoon. Deputies in Minnesota developed information that Aguirre was working and living in Litchfield Minnesota. Aguirre was identified and subsequently arrested without incident.

The time the information was received by Deputies in San Diego to the time of arrest was less than 24 hours.
