Arrest Marks Fourth Metro's Most Wanted Arrest in Ten Days

Des Moines, IA – The Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force arrested Stephen Hershel Neff (36) this afternoon in the 8000 block of Ridgeview Drive on Des Moines’s south side.   Neff was being sought on an arrest warrant issued in Warren County in reference to a vehicle theft there.

Neff is the fourth Metro’s Most Wanted fugitive arrested by the Task Force in ten days.  On January 8, the Task Force arrested Shane Allen Wessel wanted in Polk and Warren Counties on numerous charges including Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, Carrying Concealed Weapons, Eluding, and Theft.  On January 15, the Task Force arrested two of Metro’s Most Wanted in Des Moines.  Gary William Johnson (55) was wanted by U.S. Parole Commission for federal parole violations.  Jeffrey Duane Heuton (48) was wanted by state authorities for parole violations and by the Carroll, Iowa Police Department on Methamphetamine charges.

The Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force is led by the U.S. Marshals and comprised of law enforcement officers from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.   The task force objective is to seek out and arrest violent fugitives wanted in the Southern District of Iowa on outstanding federal, state, and local arrest warrants.  Last year, U.S. Marshals task forces arrested more than 27,000 state and local fugitives on felony charges.
