Apprehends 3 Violent Felons in Tallahassee 
 
The U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force announces the arrest of three men in Tallahassee wanted in separate offenses within a 24 hour time period. Late Thursday afternoon, December 20, the U.S. Marshals North Florida Violent Fugitive Task Force received a warrant for the arrest of James Maxwell Bryant, age 23, of 1031 Joe Louis Street, Tallahassee, FL for the offense of Sexual Battery on a Child Under 12 years of age. U.S. Marshals task force members quickly responded to the 1031 Joe Louis Street address and arrested Bryant without incident inside the residence.

In the early morning hours today, Friday, December 21, U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force members captured Edsel Byrd Jr., age 33, as he was taking a shower inside a residence located at 2497 Fort Braden Lane in Leon County. Byrd had been the target of a three day investigation after the U.S. Marshals, North Florida Violent Fugitive Task Force received a request for assistance from the Tallahassee Police Department and the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office for help in apprehending BYRD on outstanding Kidnapping, Felony Battery, and Felony Child Neglect warrants from the two departments.

Also in the early morning hours today, members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended Daryl Newman, age 26. U.S. Marshals in Tallahassee were notified by U.S. Marshals, Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force in Indianapolis, Indiana that Daryl Newman was possibly hiding out in the Tallahassee area. Newman was currently being sought by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the Madison County Police Department, Indiana for the offenses of Homicide and Violation of Probation for Armed Robbery. After a three day manhunt by U.S. Marshals task force members in Tallahassee, leads were developed that Newman was possibly staying in an apartment complex at 2525 Texas Street. As task force officers surrounded the residence early this morning, Newman attempted to flee out the back window of the second floor apartment but he was quickly apprehended by officers inside the residence. NEWMAN was transported to the Leon County Jail were he currently awaits extradition back to Indianapolis, IN on his outstanding homicide charge.

The United States Marshals Service spearheads the North Florida Violent Fugitive Task Force which is comprised of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals Service, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Tallahassee Police Department, and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.
