Crime Stoppers and Metropolitan Crime Commission Most Wanted Fugitive Captured by New Orleans Police Department and U.S. Marshals Task Force

New Orleans, LA - On the morning of December 06, 2007, members of the New Orleans Police Department Violent Offenders Warrant Squad (NOPD VOWS) and the U.S. Marshals Service Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force (CSFTF) arrested one of Crime Stoppers and the Metropolitan Crime Commission’s (MCC) most wanted fugitives, Bryan K. Hill, 28 years-old, at an apartment in the 7700 block of Read Blvd. New Orleans East. Approximately one ounce of crack cocaine and a small amount of marijuana were recovered in the apartment during his arrest.

Hill is accused of the January 17, 2007 murder of Tyrone Johnson in the 2000 block of Allen St. New Orleans, LA. The victim was found by NOPD First District officers lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. Investigators believe that Hill shot Johnson with a shotgun.

Hill, who has a prior LA state conviction for cocaine and marijuana offenses and federal convictions for felon in possession of a firearm and violations of his federal supervised release, became a suspect in Johnson’s murder and a warrant was issued for him in August of 2007. He has been featured on the Crime Stoppers billboard and the Metropolitan Crime Commission “Wanted by the Law” feature in the Times Picayune on numerous occasions. Multiple tips were received by Crime Stoppers and MCC. It was through these tips that investigators with VOWS and CSFTF were able to locate and arrest Hill.

Eastern District of Louisiana U.S. Marshal Michael Credo said, “I would like to thank Crime Stoppers and the Metropolitan Crime Commission for the assistance with bringing Hill to justice. We consider him a career criminal and it is only through a partnership with the community and law enforcement that we can hope to reduce violent crime in the metro area. That is why groups like Crime Stoppers and the Metropolitan Crime Commission are invaluable to our efforts. The New Orleans Police Department and my task force are very pleased with the community assistance that went into finding Hill.

The U.S. Marshals Service Eastern District of Louisiana’s “Operation Debris Removal” began in October of 2006, with additional resources provided by the U.S. Department of Justice. Its mission is to reduce the spike of violent crime spreading across the New Orleans metro area post Katrina. Current CSFTF members include the New Orleans Police Department, Bogalusa Police Department, the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Probation and Parole, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Services and Social Security OIG.
