Combined Law Enforcement Effort Nabs Buckhead Ring Robber |
|
ATLANTA,
GA - At approximately 7:00 pm on April 5, 2007, the Gwinnett
County Sheriff’s Office and the Atlanta Police Department, working
in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service’s Southeast Regional
Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF), arrested Deuntria Lamar Lyons, 24.
Lyons was arrested outside of a check cashing business in west
Atlanta. He was part of a ring of individuals wanted for their
participation in a string of armed robberies in and around the
Buckhead area in which women were targeted for their rings and other
jewelry.
Utilizing a collaborative effort, investigators from all three
agencies were able to finally pinpoint Lyons’ location after an
extensive twenty-four manhunt throughout the Atlanta area. Lyons was
located at the intersection of James Jackson Parkway and Donald Lee
Hollowell Parkway and was seated in his vehicle when officers moved
in and placed him under arrest without incident.
In addition to the robbery charges in Atlanta, Lyons was also wanted
in Gwinnett, Dekalb, and Henry Counties on separate armed robbery
charges as well as Cobb County for probation violation which stemmed
from a previous robbery arrest there.
Lyons has an extensive criminal history which consists of at least
twenty one prior arrests for offenses such as armed robbery, drug
trafficking, burglary, weapons offenses, and felony obstruction of
officers.
The U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force is
comprised of numerous federal, state, and local agencies from
throughout Georgia and has arrested over 10,000 violent fugitives
since its inception in September, 2003.
