(October 24, 2008) Downtown, Los Angeles - Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) greeted the attendees at the Little Tokyo Nutrition Program’s Luau held at the Nishi Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Downtown. The congresswoman handed out 2009 U.S. Capitol Historical Society calendars to approximately 250 seniors who attended the lunch along with copies of her constituent services guide in English and Japanese. Copies of the guide in five languages are also available on the congresswoman’s web site at www.house.gov/roybal-allard/ and under “Get Help.” During her remarks, the congresswoman announced the final approval of $4 million in federal funds that she secured recently for the Go For Broke National Education Foundation. The center will be built in Little Tokyo on Temple Street, between Alameda and Judge John Aiso streets, adjacent to its monument, and will include historical exhibits about Japanese American WWII veterans. |
